On February 13, 2025, at Phuoc An Port (Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai Province), Phuoc An Port Investment and Exploitation Petroleum Joint Stock Company hosted the ceremonial reception of the first vessel at the port. This event is a key milestone for the southern port system.

The vessel making this historic call is M/V MSC BEIRA IV from MSC, one of the world's largest shipping lines. According to Dong Nai authorities, this event paves the way for new opportunities in port infrastructure development and supply chain connectivity in the region.

MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A.) was founded in 1970 by Gianluigi Aponte. According to Alphaliner, as of January 5, 2022, MSC officially became the world's largest container shipping company, surpassing Maersk with a total carrying capacity of 4,284,728 TEUs.

MSC operates at almost all major ports globally, holding approximately 18% of the international shipping market share.

3. Phuoc An Port and Its Development Potential

Located in Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai, Phuoc An Port is a deep-water port featuring nine container berths with a total length of 2,830 meters. The port can accommodate vessels up to 4,500 TEUs (~60,000 tons) and has an operational capacity of 5 million TEUs per year.

The Phuoc An Port project is divided into multiple phases:

• Phase 1: Initiated in 2024.
• Phase 2: Approved in late 2024, covering 50.9 hectares with a total investment of VND 7.572 trillion.

By 2025, the port is expected to handle 0.2 million TEUs, increasing to 1.2 million TEUs by 2026.
