Vietnam-US Trade Surpasses $100 Billion for the Fourth Consecutive Year
According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, in September 2024, Vietnam's exports to the United States reached over $9.9 billion. This raised the total export turnover for the first nine months of the year to $88.16 billion, reflecting a 25.53% increase compared to the same period in 2023, equivalent to an additional $18 billion in exports.
The United States continues to be Vietnam's largest export market
By the end of September, 13 product categories exported to the US reached over $1 billion in revenue, with three categories exceeding $10 billion:
Computers, electronics, and components: $17.32 billion
Machinery and equipment: $15.5 billion
Textiles and garments: over $12 billion
On the import side, Vietnam's imports from the US in the first nine months of 2024 amounted to $10.96 billion, marking a 6.7% increase compared to the same period last year. The only billion-dollar import category was computers, electronics, and components, totaling $3.2 billion.
With a total trade turnover of $99.12 billion within nine months, Vietnam-US trade is projected to exceed $100 billion once again in 2024. This achievement marks the fourth consecutive year that trade between the two countries has reached this milestone.
